Scheduled Improvement: Tube Shock Conversion

I picked up a set of monroe gas shocks at Advanced Auto Parts yesterday (monroe part number 5877). They're a much better shock to use than what I had previously planned to use-- these are designed to support the rear end of a Hyundai Excel whereas the others were for the front end of a late 80's GMC G10 van. Here are a few links to discussions on this conversion:

Rear Suspension Updates

click here: http://theleisure.wordpress.com/2009/08/06/big-changes-in-the-works/ to see what i have in store for the rear end. The list is long so I'll just send you there. I've been experimenting with blog software to see which one is best. The jury's still out...

follow up... front bushings upgrade (april '09)

I just read back and noticed that I never followed up on my front suspension bushing upgrade post. Well, it turns out that the inner a-arm pin that was giving me so much trouble causes the same problem for almost everybody. The trick for removal is a drift pin-- I was finally able to get it out after I bought a bigger hammer, literally. The rest of the job, including removal and installation of the (upper outer) trunion bushings, went smoothly without any issues.

footwell vent issue

my footwell vents are not letting any air flow through. The stuff in the bag came out of the pax side vent. the picture of the motor shows a replacement battery tray that blocks the original battery/heater tray. could that be an issue?

wiring diagram

I took some time and added color to these wires. Funny thing is is that after I was done I think it's the wrong one for my car....

Front Suspension Bushings

Today I got started on a new project, replacing the rubber bushings in the front suspension. I’m not done. Those GD bolts on the inner a arms are a real pain to remove. The nuts came off easily but the bolts are really stuck.
